THE EFFECT by Lucy Prebble

THE EFFECT by Lucy Prebble
Back by popular demand for two nights only, Bardic Theatre brings our impactful production of The Effect home for the final time before it heads out on tour.
Set inside a medical drug trial, the play follows two volunteers whose growing attraction may be love, chemistry, or something far more unsettling. What begins playfully soon turns intense, funny and devastating, as the experiment pushes them, and those running it, to breaking point.
Driven by extraordinary local performances and the fast, funny, close-to-the-bone dialogue of Emmy-winning Succession and I Hate Suzie writer Lucy Prebble, The Effect is an intimate, edge-of-your-seat theatre experience. It’s a big night out that’s smart, emotional and surprisingly funny, with a transformative stage design and a pulsing soundtrack.
Directed by James Murphy (Bardic’s The Importance of Being Earnest; The Ferryman at the Gaiety Theatre; RTÉ’s The Walsh Sisters; BBC’s Tall Tales & Murder), this is your last chance to catch The Effect on home ground before the experiment is ended for good.
