NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn

NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn
Thursday 26 - Sunday 29 March 2026
After the sold-out success of The Snapper across Northern Ireland, Bardic Theatre returns with Michael Frayn’s legendary farce Noises Off. A love letter to theatre, and a merciless send-up of everything that can go wrong when putting on a play.
We begin with a hopelessly under-rehearsed cast attempting to stage a creaky adult comedy. Missed cues, forgotten lines, slamming doors and flying sardines signal disaster from the outset. But just when you think things can’t get worse, the audience is taken backstage, where egos clash, relationships unravel, and silent sabotage becomes the only way forward. By the final act, the production is in full meltdown, yet somehow still staggering on.
Fast-paced, physical, and outrageously funny, Noises Off is theatrical chaos executed with clockwork precision. It’s a play that celebrates the madness of making theatre, the long nights, the bruised egos, the romances, rivalries and pure panic that happen behind the scenes.
From doors that refuse to cooperate to actors who absolutely shouldn’t be left alone together, this is farce at its finest: loud, fast, physical and relentless. For theatre lovers and first-time audiences alike, Noises Off promises an evening of infectious laughter and beautifully choreographed chaos that only live theatre can deliver.
As befits a full-throttle farce, this production contains some robust language, mischievous sexual innuendo, and the occasional flash of partial nudity, all strictly in the name of comedy.
